“God, I’m not getting much from You, lately.” I gently whispered, half defeated.
He replied, “Moriah, I’m not getting much of you either, lately. Your life has grown so loud and my voice comes in the form of a quiet whisper; it is not found through the rushing and moving and motion that you have made of your life. Work to be still, and I’ll do a work in you.”
My “be still” moments have looked a lot more like rushing through a passage before rushing out the door or feeling too defeated by the end of the day to open the pages that would offer me enough strength to get me through the next day. I think one of our biggest failures in being in His presence is that we physically allow ourselves to be there, but spiritually we do not still our hearts and minds enough to really be there. We remain half distracted, distant, anxious, and hurried, yet we offer Him just enough of our time to rid us of the guilt from doing less than what we know is right. Spending time in His presence should never be pressured by guilt or done by shame, but should automatically draw us in by grace and allow us to be surrendered to His presence— placing our struggles and burdens and temptations at His feet while allowing ourselves to be fully surrendered as clean vessels to be used for His glory. He whispers to me, like a million times before, “Be still, Moriah. I cannot do a work in your heart if you cannot work to be still.”
I think this can serve as a reminder for many of us, today. May we still our hearts enough for God to do something in them. Take a seat, grab your cup of coffee, and enjoy putting aside the time to be in His holy presence this month, my friends.

Another month, another Scripture Writing Plan. Just reading the title to this one convicted my heart, because so often, we allow the routine of Christianity to get in the way of real Christianity. My heart and prayer is that our hearts would be genuine when it comes to the Love of Christ, and the only way to do so is by allowing our hearts to be settled, planted, and rooted so deeply in His Word.

I am so excited to share and dive into this months Scripture Writing Plan with you. The writing plans have been such a blessing to me over the past few months and I hope they have for you as well. I stated in the newsletter how this year has been such a challenge to walk with the Lord, but committing to writing a few verses out each day on top of a regular reading plan has done so much good for my heart. So here’s to slow mornings over a cup of coffee and taking the time to be with God again.

September has come and gone. I’ve always viewed September as an in-between month transitioning from summer to fall and I only hope it could have been a transition in our own hearts for the bettering of ourselves as we lean into God’s Word and allow His words to settle deep within our hearts. I hope as we continue to learn from God’s Word that He would make our hearts just as beautiful as He does this new season. Hi, there! I can’t believe it is already August and summer has seemed to go by so quickly, despite it being calm for the most part. I’ve so enjoyed spending my mornings soaking up the summer sun and writing out Bible verses that bring me closer to the feet of Jesus. I know this year has been a tough one and I really can’t think of a better way to encourage ourselves in the Lord than to immerse ourselves in His Word. I pray and hope these Scripture Writing Plans will be as much of a blessing to you as they have been to me.

Hi, my name is Kathy Rice. I am a Pastor’s wife and secretary at my church, Anchor Baptist Church. In the past, we were missionaries for 20 years where I was involved in many different parts of the ministry. Currently, my ministry is the ladies of our church. I am loving getting to know them and encourage them in their walk with the Lord. I love to travel and missions is very dear to my heart so with that being said I would love to take yearly mission trips and encourage missionary wives. Last but not least I am a wife to my wonderful husband, Shane and a mom to 6 pretty awesome kids. I feel my greatest achievement in life is raising my children. I love being a mom and though I have failed many times in my role I am so thankful the Lord has blessed me with some amazing kids.
